How to Use ChatGPT for Stock Analysis With Live Market Data
How to use ChatGPT for stock analysis with live market data: add the SentiSense connector from the Plugins page, sign in with a free account, and ask about sentiment, analyst targets, insider and 13F filings, options and earnings. With the connector's own October 28, 2026 output and a reusable prompt.
To use ChatGPT for stock analysis with live market data, add the SentiSense connector as a custom MCP server from ChatGPT's Plugins page, sign in with a free SentiSense account, and ask about any of the most-watched US stocks: ChatGPT then reads sentiment, the SentiSense Rating, analyst targets, insider and 13F filings, options positioning and the earnings calendar from dated data instead of answering from memory.
On its own, ChatGPT answers a stock question from training data and web search, which covers what a company does but not what the market thinks about it this week. The connector adds eleven read-only tools. Nothing writes, trades or touches an account.
How do you connect ChatGPT to live market data?
The steps follow OpenAI's own guide to adding a custom MCP server and ChatGPT's Plugins page as it appeared on October 29, 2026. Custom servers are added from ChatGPT on the web.
- Create a free SentiSense account, or sign in if you have one.
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select Add, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it SentiSense. Under Connection, keep Server URL and paste this address:
https://app.sentisense.ai/mcp
- Set Authentication to OAuth. Read the notice about custom servers, choose I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- Install the new plugin from your plugins, sign in with your SentiSense account when asked and approve read-only access.
- Ask in a chat. Name SentiSense in the question if ChatGPT does not pick the tool on its own.
Menu labels shift between releases; what you want is the option to add a server by its URL. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may need to allow custom servers first. The connector guide lists every tool.
What can ChatGPT answer about a stock once connected?
ChatGPT picks the tool from the question, so you ask in plain English:
- "What is the market mood today, and what is driving it?"
- "Give me a snapshot of NVDA: sentiment, the SentiSense Score and the Rating."
- "What do analysts think of TSLA, and where are the price targets?"
- "Who has been buying AMD this quarter, insiders or funds?"
- "Who reports earnings next week, before or after the bell?"
The snapshot tool returned this for the second question on October 28, 2026, condensed:
NVDA. SentiSense Rating A, 99th percentile of rated stocks. SentiSense Score: Strong Bullish, 30-day average 45.6. Sentiment, news and social: +0.35 over 30 days. Social dominance rank 6. Top signal: 1,247 institutions increased positions last quarter, adding 24.7M shares net. Price $215.38 at the last regular close, down 1.2% on the session.
The same evening, the market mood tool read 36.7, Anxiety, down 6.7 on the week. Each reading carries its date and the tool that produced it, so it can be checked.
What should a ChatGPT stock analysis prompt include?
Evidence, not a verdict:
- Name the connector. "Using SentiSense, ..." makes ChatGPT call the tool instead of recalling.
- Ask for dates. Scores and sentiment come from the latest analytical batch, prices are 15-minute delayed and options analytics are end of day.
- Put the crowd next to the Street. Sentiment and the Score read news and social coverage; analyst consensus and targets read the sell side. Note where they disagree.
- Separate data from interpretation. What the tools returned first, commentary second.
Together: "Using SentiSense, give me a dated read on [ticker]: sentiment and Score, the Rating and its weakest dimension, analyst consensus and target range, insider and 13F activity this quarter, options positioning and the next earnings date. Cite each tool's date and separate the data from your interpretation."
What is free and what is PRO?
A free SentiSense account covers 1,000 tool calls a month with no API key. Market mood, the stock snapshot, the Rating, analyst ratings and reported financial statements return in full on every tier. Options add the 25-delta skew on PRO; insider and 13F lists, the ranked earnings view and the screener return more rows on PRO, and the curated company KPIs are PRO. The same URL works in Claude, Grok and Codex; how to connect market data to your AI agent covers the SDK and skill paths for agents you build yourself.
Connector output is as SentiSense returned it on October 28, 2026; the snapshot and market mood tools return the same depth on a free account. Prices are 15-minute delayed, options data is end of day, and the connector covers the most-watched US stocks. This article is educational and is not investment advice.
Then paste the connector URL into ChatGPT. No API key, no card.
