What is the difference between the SentiSense Score, sentiment and the Rating?
Three different measures, what each one reads, and how to tell them apart.
These are three different measures with different scales.
| Measure | What it reads | Scale |
|---|---|---|
| Sentiment | The average tone of mentions, with no weight for how many there are | -1 to 1 |
| SentiSense Score | How bullish or bearish the market is on a stock, from news and social sentiment weighted by how actively it is discussed | Positive or negative, with no fixed limit. Labels follow bands with boundaries at -23, -13, -5, 5, 13 and 23, running from strong bearish through neutral to strong bullish |
| SentiSense Rating | A daily A to F grade across seven dimensions, ranked against every other rated stock | A letter grade cut from a 0 to 100 score |
The Score is one of the seven inputs to the Rating, so the two can point in different directions.
None of these is a buy or sell signal, a price target or a forecast. The Score reads what news and social coverage say, not what the price did, so it can stay positive on a day the stock falls.
